recent makings: spools

I have been working on slip casting a series of vintage wooden cotton spools, and considering the inherent length of the process and that I'm now working part time, it has taken a while! I have finally completed a trial batch, seen below:

I have just purchased a brand new bucket of porcelain slip for the next batch (these ones are stoneware), so will update when I have some results! I'm back in the studio tomorrow to get stuck into the new moulds...they are only five-piece moulds...so they shouldn't take long...

until next time,
Cass.

Hello Cass! I've been following your work for about a year now (ie lurking on your blog...!) and I'm so in love with these cotton spools! I love the consideration and thought that you put into your work - it's very inspiring. Good luck to you and I hope our paths will cross one day :) Katy.

Hi Katy! thanks so much for your comment :) you wont believe this, but you keep popping up in my life too! I came across your blog a while ago...then your work in Artisan...then at made. in toowoomba! As my work is generally quite plain and simple, I just love the amazing colours of yours - I also love the pinky and peachy glazes you've been working on! thanks again for your kind words, Im sure we will have more to do with eachother in the future :) Cass.
